Mrs. King Flag
My name is Jacy King and I will be teaching your child either:

5th Grade:  United States History from 1565-present -- Historical content includes the colonial period, the American Revolution, the establishment of the U.S. Constitution and American identity, westward expansion, the Civil War and Reconstruction, immigration and industrialization, and the 20th and 21st centuries.

6th Grade:  World Cultures and Geography--students will study people, places, and societies of the contemporary world.

 About myself:

I was raised in Center, Texas and received my degree from SFASU.  I worked one year in Louisiana with 7th graders before coming to Chireno in 1999.  Since then, I have taught every subject offered at the secondary level (grades 8-12) in Social Studies including Genealogy and Local History.  Middle School has been my home for the last few years.  Chireno is where I met another history teacher, Brian King, and we married in 2003 and have two Owls:  Trevin (7th grade) and Samuel (2nd).  I am currently working on my Master’s Degree in History from SFASU.  So this begins my 20th year at this district, I cannot wait to get started!

 My Experience:

For World Geography:  I have traveled solo to the counties of Spain, England, France, Portugal and Costa Rica.  I have also led three different student tours to Europe including the countries of:  Italy, Monaco, Greece, Switzerland, (and again to England and France).  If you add in my own brief stops to Mexico, Canada, Haiti, Saint Martin, Germany, and Puerto Rico then that would make for a wide variety of cultures and experiences that I am able to present to your child.

For U.S. History:  I have led student tours to Washington D.C., Boston, Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown, and New York City.  I have personally been to Philadelphia as well.  All of these stops are included in your child’s TEKS and are the cornerstones for early American History so I am proud to be able to share these with my students.

In 2015, I was awarded Outstanding Teacher of the Humanities by Texas Humanities in Austin.

Thank you for sharing your child with me for this upcoming school year!  If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to ask.  The best (and fastest) way to reach me is through my school
