Parents and Staff,

Chireno ISD was informed that one of our elementary students has tested positive for Covid-19. They have not been at school since Wednesday October 14th. We have contacted all the parents of that student’s class to stay at home and quarantine since they are not required to wear masks at that grade level. We have deep cleaned and sanitized the room and common areas.  We are requiring students and staff that are found to be in close contact and quarantined to wait 7 days before getting tested if asymptomatic and only then if they receive a negative test would they be allowed to return before the 14 day period.

All Chireno employees and students are instructed to continue to follow CDC and TEA guidelines and recommendations and to practice social distancing.

Out of an abundance of caution, we advise you to monitor your health and contact your primary care physician if you develop symptoms.

Chireno ISD is continuing to monitor this situation and will provide additional information as needed.

Sincerely,

Michael Skinner, Superintendent of Schools
