From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to Chireno High School's UIL academic teams as they compete in the District 24-2A meet today at SFA! It will be a great Friday afternoon here on the home diamonds as our softball and baseball teams will be back in action. Our Lady Owls will host Woden beginning at 5:00pm while our JV and varsity baseball squads will take the field at 4:00 and 6:30 against San Augustine. Also, mark your calendars for this Saturday evening as our One-Act Play cast and crew will be hosting a public performance of "The Cover of Life" in the cafeteria. Admission is $5. These students will be performing next weekend at Union Grove High School in the Area Round of OAP competition with the opportunity to advance to Regionals.

Our ladies won convincingly yesterday afternoon at home against Burkeville and look to keep the momentum going. Also, both the JV and varsity baseball teams will be in action in Colmesneil as well today. The JV will get started at 4:00 while the varsity will get underway at 6:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our Lady Owls softball team as they host Burkeville this afternoon! First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm on the home diamond. Our ladies will be back in action tomorrow in Colmesneil for a 5:00 pm contest. The baseball team will also be in Colmesneil tomorrow evening for a 6:00 game.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's a beautiful day for a ballgame! Good luck to our softball and baseball teams as they take on Broaddus this afternoon. Our ladies will get underway at 5:00 pm while our baseball squad will get underway an hour later at 6:00. Also, congratulations to Barrett Bennefield and Cason Mancill as they have both been named Angler of the Year for 2024 while representing Chireno High School in the Bayou City Division of the Texas High School Association. Both young men will be featured in today's podcast managed by the THSBA so you can catch it online. Bennefield and Mancill will now advance to the Regional Bass Tournament to be held at Lake Limestone on April 13, with the opportunity to advance to state.

Congratulations to our Senior NOBLE Scholars!! Barrett Bennefield, Connor Brown, Briley Copeland, Addison Dawes, Payton Johnson, Zachary Johnston, Trevin King, Caitlyn Saenz, Colton Theriot, and Dylan Wells were recognized at a reception held at SFASU on March 25, 2024.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our junior high track athletes as they compete in the district meet this afternoon in San Augustine. Field events begin at 3:30. Meanwhile, our Lady Owls softball team will be in Zavalla playing two games at 4:00 and 6:00. Opponents will be Chester and Zavalla. Finally, our JV and varsity baseball squads will be on the home diamond this afternoon hosting Groveton. The first game (JV) will get underway at 4:00 with the varsity to follow at 6:30. From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: The district junior high track meet originally scheduled for Monday in San Augustine has been moved back to Tuesday due to the high probability of rain. Field events are slated to begin at 3:30 pm. Running events will follow after all field events have been concluded.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our One-Act Play cast and crew as they advanced to the Area Round of competition yesterday at Panola College! Led by OAP director Mrs. Alicia Mathews, Chireno High School's version of "The Cover of Life" garnered the following student awards: Honor Crew - Colton Ruppert; Honorable Mention Cast - Trinity Crocker; All-Star Cast - Tatum Smith and Alayna Patterson; and Top Female Performer - Shelby Canterberry. The Area Round will be held at Union Grove High School on Saturday, April 13.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Due to overnight rains, we have some schedule changes for softball and baseball games tonight and tomorrow. First, there will be no JV baseball games played tomorrow in Chester due to a scheduling conflict within their athletic calendar. Tonight's baseball game against Chester has been moved to Nacogdoches High School and there will be no cost for admission. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm. The home softball game scheduled for this evening against Chester will not be played. Instead, this game is tentatively set to be played in Zavalla on Tuesday, March 26, beginning at 4:00 pm. Immediately following that game, our Lady Owls will then play Zavalla. That game is set for 6:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: The junior high district track meet will be held in San Augustine on Monday, March 25. The high school district track meet will be on held on April 1 (field events and running prelims) and April 3 (running finals). Also, good luck to our One-Act play cast and crew as they compete at the bi-district round of competition tomorrow (March 21) at Panola College. Their performance of "The Cover of Life" is scheduled for approximately 3:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Thursday's high school track meet in Neches has been moved up to tomorrow (Wednesday, Mar. 20). This is due to the high probability of rain on Thursday.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: From the Desk of Corrections...we have a quick amendment regarding our Lady Owls softball schedule for this week. Our ladies will be in action this week. They will play in West Sabine on Wednesday, March 13, at 5:00 pm. This game is a make up game from this past Friday.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our Mighty Owls baseball team as they host Burkeville today on the home diamond. First pitch is scheduled for high noon. Tomorrow, our varsity squad will travel to Livingston to take on Leggett for an 11:00 am match up. At the end of this week, our JV team will travel to Chester for a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday. Our Lady Owls will not play this week but will be back in action on March 19 as they will travel to Brookeland for a 5:00 pm game.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Saturday's baseball games in Cushing will no longer take place due to unplayable field conditions. Instead, our Mighty Owls will travel back to Douglass to play Frankston at 3:30 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Today's softball game at West Sabine has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions. The game has tentatively been moved to Wednesday, March 13, at 5:00 pm at West Sabine. Also, Monday's home softball game against Burkeville originally scheduled for 11:00 am has been moved to a 4:00 pm game on Monday, April 1. Don't forget that our Mighty Owls baseball team is back in action tomorrow for two games at Cushing High School beginning at 11:00 AM. Additionally, good luck to our UIL debate teams as they head to UT Austin for their state competition that will last from Monday through Wednesday of next week.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Fresh off of a convincing win over Zavalla last night, our Mighty Owls will enter the Douglass Classic Round Robin Tournament beginning this afternoon with a 5:15 game against the Douglass Indians. Tomorrow, we will face Troup at 9:00 am in Douglass. On Saturday, we will shift play over to Cushing High School for two games against Frankston and Cushing. Those games are scheduled for 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Our Lady Owls softball squad will be on the road Friday afternoon in a district game against West Sabine. First pitch is slated for 5:00 pm. Also, good luck to our high school track teams as they compete at the San Augustine track meet this afternoon!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our One-Act Play as the cast and crew advanced to the Bi-District round of competition yesterday at Panola College! Their rendition of "The Cover of Life" resulted in senior Trinity Crocker receiving the award for Best Actress. Our high school OAP will be back at Panola College on March 21 competing for the opportunity to advance to Area. Way to go, Chireno OAP! Today's softball and baseball games against Zavalla have been postponed due to the tremendous amount of rain we received this morning. The baseball game will be played Wednesday, March 6, here at home beginning at 6:00 pm. The softball game is tentatively set to be made up on March 26 with the time and location to be determined later.
