From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release...Chireno ISD will be delaying the start of school tomorrow, Wednesday, January 24, until 10:00 AM. Our buses will run approximately two hours later than usual. This is due to the excessive rain we have received over the past couple of days and with more expected tonight. Several of our roads where our buses travel are currently experiencing flooding and this could prove dangerous for any drivers attempting to travel before daylight. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our students and their parents, our bus drivers, faculty and staff is the highest priority in this situation.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: This is a reminder that tonight's homes games with Broaddus have been moved to tomorrow (Wednesday) evening at 5:00 pm due to a lack of availability of game officials. Only varsity games will be played beginning with the girls' game. The boys' game will immediately follow.

Our JV girls will get the evening started with a 4:00 tip, followed by the JV boys, then varsity girls, and varsity boys. All four games promise to be exciting so come ready to be loud!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: For Immediate Press Release...tonight's varsity games against Colmesneil will not be played in Chireno due to unusually low water pressure. Instead, both games will now be played in Colmesneil this evening beginning at 5:00 pm.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release...Chireno ISD will hold classes tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, beginning at 10:00 AM. This delay in start time is out of an abundance of caution for our bus drivers, commuters, parents, and students. Buses will run 2 hours later than usual and all CISD employees should be at school by 9:30 to prepare for the day.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Tuesday's home games against Colmesneil has been rescheduled for Wednesday weather permitting. Only two varsity games will be played beginning with the girls' game at 5:00 pm.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release...Chireno ISD will be closed Tuesday, January 16, due to poor weather and road conditions within our district. Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing tonight or tomorrow, making driving too hazardous for our bus drivers, students, faculty, and staff to come to school. Any decision that is made for Wednesday will come tomorrow afternoon.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's Friday...Game Day! Good luck to our varsity girls' and boys' teams as they host Corrigan-Camden this evening. There will only be two games with the varsity Lady Owls beginning at 5:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our players and coaches as they go on the road this evening to play West Sabine. We will only play 3 games this evening as there will be no JV boys game. However, the first game (JV girls) will still begin at 4:00 pm followed by the varsity girls then the varsity boys. This will be our first match up against West Sabine as we continue through the first round of district play.

Our JV boys will play first followed by the varsity girls then varsity boys. These will be the final games before the Christmas break. Our ladies will be back on the home court this Friday as they host Woden for a two-game evening beginning at 5:00 pm. Meanwhile, our JV and varsity boys will travel northward to take on the Garrison Bulldogs this afternoon to two games beginning at 5:00 pm. Good luck to our players and coaches!

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release: Chireno ISD will not hold classes today due to a water line break overnight. We were informed that there was no specific timetable for it's repair, but that it could take up to several hours. We are planning to resume classes tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 12. Despite the cancellation of classes today, we are still moving forward with our plans for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new Middle School Building this afternoon at 3:30 pm. All faculty, staff, students, and the community are welcome to come walk through our new building and look at where our students will be holding classes beginning the week we come back from the Christmas Holidays. We will welcome all comers from 3:30-5:30 pm this afternoon.

From Chireno ISD: Chireno ISD is aware of an email circulating through some Texas school districts this morning from someone claiming to be a Russian terrorist. The email contained a bomb threat. We have been notified that the FBI has been investigating this email and have found it to be a hoax. At this time, Chireno ISD has not received this email. However, we are continuing to monitor this situation and will notify proper authorities when or if it becomes necessary. Any further updates that are deemed necessary will be shared with the public as soon as possible.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our varsity teams as they open play in the Gary Tournament this afternoon. Coming off a strong third place showing in the Pine Tree Tournament last weekend, our Lady Owls get underway in Gary's Old Gym at 2:15 pm against Kilgore. Winners of five of the last six games, our boys will play on the same floor at 3:30 pm against West Rusk. Good luck to our players and coaches!

This will be our ladies's only game of the week as their game in Timpson scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled. Meanwhile, our JV and varsity Mighty Owls will be at Central tonight beginning at 5:00 pm. They will play again tomorrow in Douglass beginning at 11:00 am. Good luck to our young men!
