Congratulations to Logan Lee and Trevin King! These two are the 2021 UIL CX Debate State Runners-Up. This is Logan's second state medal this season and Trevin has earned his first as a freshman. We're proud of you!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Mighty Owls will square off tonight at 6:00 pm in a home game against the Cushing Bearkats. We hope to see you at the ball field this evening to support our young men. Let's go, Mighty Owls!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our Lady Owls softball team on another tally in the win column with a decisive victory over Burkeville! This makes three in a row. They will be back in action this Friday in Brookeland looking to extend the win streak. Strike one is scheduled for 5:00 pm. Our baseball team will also be in Brookeland Friday evening for its only game of the week. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm. Our track teams will begin preparations for the upcoming season this week. Practice schedules are as follows: Monday and Thursday - practices will run from 3:30-4:30 at Chireno; Tuesday and Wednesday - Coach Loverson will take our team to San Augustine after school to practice on their track and return to campus at 6:00 pm. Congratulations to our One Act Play cast and crew! They will be advancing to the bi-district competition on Monday, March 22nd! 6 or our cast members earned All Star Cast at the district contest today! Congratulations to Brice Caskey, Annemarie Williams, Connor Brown, Trinity Crocker, Zach Johnston and Reese Moore for earning all star cast! Congratulations also to Briley Copeland for earning “Honor Crew”! Way to go Owls!!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Both baseball and softball teams will be in action at home tomorrow evening with the Lady Owls first battling the Zavalla Lady Eagles. Opening pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm. The baseball squad will crank things up an hour later as they will also host Zavalla. Also, please note our Lady Owls will host Burkeville on Monday, Mar. 15, at 5:00 pm in a make up game. It's spring time at the Chireno ballfields!

Five Chireno High School students entered artwork in the VASE REGIONAL ART COMPETITION... Marissa Smith, Jose Recio-Cordova, Zachary Smith, Dacey Coleman and Addis Chandler. Dacey's, Zachary's and Addis's artwork advanced to the AREA competition! Addis Chandler's animation artwork will be heading to STATE! I'm so proud of my Owl Artists!!! It's a GREAT day to be an owl!! Congratulations to our Lady Owls basketball team on an outstanding season! Our players and coaches never gave up and were able to sustain a rally toward the end of the game last night in Rusk, but came up on the short end of a 53-50 loss to Neches. However, this team is tough, resilient, and will work to make another run toward the state tournament next year. We can't wait to start the journey again.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our Lady Owls as they battle Neches this evening at Rusk High School in the Regional Final round of the state playoffs. The opening tip is set for 6:00 pm. Admission will be paid at the gate and fans must wear a masks at all times. Good luck to our Mighty Owls baseball team as they open the season at home tomorrow evening against San Augustine. First pitch is set for 5:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Lady Owls advanced to the Regional Final round of play with a convincing 40-22 victory over D'Hanis this afternoon. We will play Neches at Rusk High School on Tuesday, Mar. 2. Tip off is slated for 6:00 pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and will simply be paid at the door. Rusk has set a maximum of 285 fans per school and masks must be worn at all times.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Tickets for the Lady Owls' game against D'Hanis can be purchased online by going to www.brenhamisd.net...click on "purchase tickets" located on that page...then click on "online ticketing". Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students. Each school is allowed up to 300 fans. Masks must be worn at all times. If your online ticket suggest that the game is in the junior high gym, please disregard. The game will be played in the high school competition gym.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Lady Owls will be in action in the Regional Semi-Final round of play Saturday, Feb. 27, against D'Hanis. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 pm at Brenham High School. More information regarding ticket purchases will be forthcoming later today. Stay tuned.

The board meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 25th has been postponed to a later date due to the Girls Basketball playoff game. The school safety committee meeting scheduled for Thursday the 25th has been postponed as well. Go Lady Owls!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Playoff basketball updates: Our Lady Owls will play Milford at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 23. This game will be played at Grapeland High School. Admission will be $5 for adults and $2 for students. Masks must be worn at all times. Our Mighty Owls have had a change in their playoff site and time. The boys will now play in Cushing at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 23, against Laneville. Masks must be worn at all times.

Dear Chireno ISD Family, Due to unforeseen circumstances related to the unprecedented winter weather event this week, causing major issues with water, power and other infrastructure throughout the school district, all classes and on campus activities for the school week of Monday, February the 22nd through Friday the 26th are cancelled. Our Mighty Owls are scheduled to play Laneville at Nacogdoches High School on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 6:00 pm. This is the bi-district round of play. Those wishing to attend must wear a mask at all times. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Dear Chireno ISD Family, Due to freezing temperatures, power outages, and the continued probability of freezing precipitation over the next several days, Chireno ISD is cancelling all classes for the remainder of the week. Classes will resume on Monday, February 22nd at the regularly scheduled time. The board meeting scheduled for this Thursday will be postponed to a later date.
