Chireno ISD was informed that one of our students in the 1st grade and one in 5th grade have tested positive for COVID-19. TEA and CDC guidance does not require those who have been in contact to quarantine.
All Chireno employees and students are instructed to continue to follow CDC and TEA guidelines and recommendations and to practice social distancing.
Out of an abundance of caution, we advise you to monitor your health and contact your primary care physician if you develop symptoms.

Chireno Elementary will host a Grandparent's Day celebration on September 17, 2021 at 9:30. This campus visit is limited to the gym. We STRONGLY encourage all visitors to wear a mask as there has been an increase in COVID cases in our area.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to both of our junior high teams for great showings this past weekend in the Broaddus Tournament. The boys brought home the tournament championship!
For immediate release:
Tomorrow night's junior high basketball games at Douglass have been cancelled out of an abundance of safety precautions for both schools. Our teams are still scheduled to host Big Sandy next Thursday, Sept. 9 beginning at 5:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Fresh off a great start to the 2021 season, our boys' and girls' teams will compete in the Broaddus Junior High Basketball Tournament, which kicks off this evening and will run through Saturday. Both squads will face Douglass this afternoon with the girls tipping off at 4:00; the boys are scheduled to get underway at 5:15. Our Lady Owls will be back in action tomorrow afternoon with a 4:00 tilt against Big Sandy; our boys will play at 5:15, also against Big Sandy. On Saturday, both teams will square off against Broaddus; the girls play at 12:30 pm, the boys at 1:45 pm. It's a big weekend for our junior high teams!
