Last night's 12-2 victory over Zavalla moved them to 2-0 on the season. Also, congratulations to our junior high baseball squad as they also moved to 2-0 on the season with a nail biting 8-7 win over the Zavalla Eagles. Both schools battled hard in a great game yesterday.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's Pineywoods Fair Week! Good luck to all of our Chireno students participating in the animal, ag mechanics, and floral shows and competitions taking place throughout the week. On Tuesday, the Market Rabbit show will take place from 9-11 am with the Breeding Rabbit show to follow immediately afterward at approximately 11:30. On Wednesday, the Market Broiler Show will get underway at 9:00 am. Ag Mechanics judging will begin Thursday morning at 9:00 while the floral show will begin an hour later. Several Chireno students will show their market goats on Friday morning beginning at 9:00. Chireno FFA will also be well represented at 10:00 am on Saturday in the Beef Heifer show and judging. It's a great time to be at the Nacogdoches County Fairgrounds!

The Lady Owls' A team will open tournament play at 3:00 pm on Thursday against Wells. The Lady Owls' B team will play their first game on Thursday evening at 6:15 pm against Kennard. Chireno's boys' team will play LaPoynor at 4:05 pm on Friday afternoon in their opening game of the tournament. Chireno ISD stands with the Wells community and school district during this difficult time.

Due to the high probability of rain during their scheduled race times, the junior high teams will not compete today.

These games have been rescheduled for this Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11, at home with the first of 3 games tipping off at 4:30 pm.
