From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: We have confirmed baseball playoff information! There was an alteration with the initial game of this best-of-three series with Kennard. Game 1 will now be played Thursday night at 7:00 pm. Game 2 is scheduled for noon on Saturday with Game 3 (if necessary) to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2. This series will be played at Nacogdoches High School. Softball playoff action is still set to begin Thursday evening at 6:00 pm in Pollock at Central High School. Game 2 of this series with Chester will get underway late Friday afternoon at 5:00 pm with a third game (if necessary) to be played immediately after the conclusion of Game 2. Meanwhile, senior Risten Cook is set to compete at the state track meet at UT Austin bright and early on Saturday morning. He is set to begin throwing the discus at 9:00 am. From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire (Saturday Evening Edition): Congratulations to our Lady Owls softball team for sweeping the Regional Quarterfinals series with Wells earlier today with a 15-5 win. This followed a 12-2 victory last night. Coach Durham and Coach Mayhugh will now lead our team into the Regional Semi-final round against the Chester Lady Jackets. Game 1 will get underway at 6:00 pm on Thursday evening. Game 2 will be played at 5:00 pm on Friday, and if necessary, Game 3 will follow immediately after the conclusion of Game 2. This best-of-three series will be played at Central High School in Pollock. Coach Bleile and our Mighty Owls baseball squad are primed and ready to begin their playoff run, which begins with a best-of-three series against Kennard. All games will be played at Nacogdoches High School. Game 1 will be played Friday night with Game 2 and 3 (if necessary) being played on Saturday. Game times are still pending. Finally, congratulations to Saylor Holloway and Alaina Goodwin for their remarkable performances in the state UIL academic competition. Both ladies returned home last night with state championship titles! Under the guidance of UIL academic coordinator Kim Sloane, Holloway earned top honors in Editorial Writing while Goodwin placed 1st in News Writing and 3rd in Feature Writing. There is no better way to close out a decorated UIL academic high school career. These ladies have certainly set the bar high and have represented our school so well over the past four years.

Risten placed second in the discus with a throw of 124’9” at the regional track meet this past weekend.
