From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our Ladys Owls on their 20 point win last night in Timpson against a tough Douglass Lady Indian team! Coach Turner and our ladies now move to the Regional Semi-Final round and will await the winner of Frost/Fruitvale game being played tonight. Details for our next game will be forthcoming. Congratulations are also in order for our 21st ranked Mighty Owls as they took down #9 Hawkins early this afternoon in Tenaha by a score of 81-60 in their warmup game. Our young men certainly look ready for post season play.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our boys' and girls' teams won big last night and will look to keep the momentum going! Our district champion Lady Owls defeated Tenaha convincingly and are moving on to the area round of the playoffs. It will be a quick turn around as they will play the Douglass Lady Indians tomorrow night at 6:00 pm at Timpson High School. Our Mighty Owls defeated West Sabine last night to secure the outright 24-2A district championship. Our boys will play a warmup game at Tenaha on Friday at 12:00 pm against Hawkins before they begin their playoff journey. The Mighty Owls' bi-district game will be played on Tuesday, February 24, at Central Heights against Gary. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 pm. It's a great time to be a Chireno Owl!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's game day! Good luck to our boys' teams as our JV and varsity play their final home and regular games this afternoon! Our JV boys will get started at 4:00 pm with Senior Night recognitions for our basketball players and cheerleaders to immediately follow. Our varsity boys will then play following our ceremonies as they hope to close out a district championship season. Our district champion Lady Owls will begin their playoff journey tonight in bi-district play against Tenaha. This game will be played at Center High School beginning at 7:30 pm. From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our JV boys' basketball team will tip off at home on Tuesday at 4:00 pm against West Sabine. Following that game, we will have our Senior Night recognitions for our cheerleaders and Mighty Owls playing their final home game. The varsity game will get underway shortly afterwards. This will give Chireno fans time to then drive to Center to cheer on our Lady Owls in their playoff matchup against Tenaha. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Lady Owls will play Tenaha in the bi-district round of the playoffs Tuesday night at Center High School. Tip off is slated for 7:30 pm. Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for students. Our JV and varsity Might Owls won by wide margins at Corrigan-Camden this afternoon and will look to close out their regular season at home against West Sabine with an outright district championship on the line. The start of the boys' games could potentially be altered on Tuesday to accommodate the girls' playoff game. Those details will be forthcoming as Chireno and West Sabine work to finalize arrangements.

Also, remember that our JV and varsity boys will play at Corrigan-Camden this evening beginning at 5:00pm. They will conclude their regular season on Tuesday of next week at home against West Sabine. We will also recognize our senior cheerleaders and Mighty Owls that night.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's Homecoming 2026! Good luck to our Lady Owls and Mighty Owls as we host Colmesneil this afternoon for 3 games. Our JV boys will get underway at 4:30 pm followed by the varsity girls and varsity boys. We will recognize our senior Lady Owls playing their final home game immediately after the JV boys game as well. These ladies have given their best over their high school careers and have left an outstanding legacy. Immediately following the varsity boys' game, we will hold our annual Homecoming ceremonies where our senior duke and duchess will be named for 2026. It's going to be a great night inside the Chireno ISD gym!

From Chireno ISD: Chireno ISD will resume classes on Thursday, January 29, at our regularly scheduled time as the campus is now safe for our students, faculty, and staff to return. Our cafeteria staff will prepare breakfast and lunches as they usually do, but all students will take those meals back to their classrooms for the next couple of days as we are still repairing the heat in the dining area. We thank you for your understanding as we have had to work through this unforeseen situation.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release: Chireno ISD has discovered another gas leak that would compromise operations in our school cafeteria. We are in the process of repairing the problem so that it will be safe for students and staff. Therefore, Chireno ISD will be closed today as we work to solve this problem. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause, but the safety our kids, faculty, and staff must prevail as we take this precaution. Information about classes for tomorrow will be shared later today.

From Chireno ISD: Chireno ISD will start at 9:45 am on Wednesday, January 28. Buses will run approximately 2 hours later than usual.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release: Chireno ISD is currently working on a water leak as well as a gas leak on campus that could affect operations in the cafeteria. We will wait until early this evening to make a call about classes tomorrow so that we can have the most accurate information to share. We know that parents need as much time as possible to plan so information will be released as soon as we have a confirmed status of repairs.
