From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our Junior High Lady Owls as they begin play in the Fall Zone Tournament in Douglass this afternoon. Our Lady Owls' A team will get underway at 3:00 pm against Wells while our Lady Owls' B team will play at 6:15 this evening against Kennard. Good luck, ladies!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: The Junior High Boys & Girls Fall Zone basketball tournament hosted by Wells ISD this weekend will now be played at Douglass ISD. The Lady Owls' A team will open tournament play at 3:00 pm on Thursday against Wells. The Lady Owls' B team will play their first game on Thursday evening at 6:15 pm against Kennard. Chireno's boys' team will play LaPoynor at 4:05 pm on Friday afternoon in their opening game of the tournament. Chireno ISD stands with the Wells community and school district during this difficult time.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: We have received word that only our high school cross country teams will run this afternoon in Corrigan-Camden with the first race scheduled to begin at approximately 1:00 pm. Due to the high probability of rain during their scheduled race times, the junior high teams will not compete today.

Our teams were not able to run last week at Hemphill due to inclement weather so they are primed and ready to run in their final tune up before the district meet on October 8. Our ladies will play tonight at Rusk high school against Cushing (6:00 pm) and Rusk (8:30 pm). Our boys will host Gary tomorrow evening at 6:00 pm on the home diamond. Also, good luck to our junior high boys and girls basketball teams as they travel to Leggett tomorrow afternoon.. There will be only two games with our Lady Owls tipping things off at 5:00 pm.

These games have been rescheduled for this Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11, at home with the first of 3 games tipping off at 4:30 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our very own Lady Owls softball players Camdyn Smith and Kinley Moore for winning the national championship at the U.S. Nationals Tournament in Wichita Falls recently. These two young ladies played on Elite Heat who blew through district and state tournaments to earn a spot in Nationals with an undefeated slate. Congratulations, ladies!
