From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Game Day Tuesday is upon us! Good luck to our players and coaches as they travel to Corrigan-Camden this evening for a three-game tilt. Our JV boys will begin play at 4:30 pm with the varsity girls and varsity boys to follow. We will release Lady Owls' playoff game details later this week as arrangements become finalized.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Homecoming 2024 has arrived! We hope you can join us this evening for Senior Night for our lone senior Lady Owl playing her final home game as well as our annual homecoming ceremony following the conclusion of the varsity boys' game. We'll be hosting West Sabine tonight in a three game slate beginning with junior varsity boys' action at 4:00 pm. Shortly after that, we'll have the Senior Night presentation followed by the varsity girls' game with the varsity boys playing the final contest of the night. It's going to be a great evening on the home court!

The JV boys will get things started with a 4:30 pm tip off followed by the varsity girls and varsity boys. All three contests should be outstanding games so come and show your support for our Lady Owls and Mighty Owls if you can. Both varsity games are also slated to be live streamed on the Northeast Texas Sports Network found on YouTube.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release...Chireno ISD will be delaying the start of school tomorrow, Wednesday, January 24, until 10:00 AM. Our buses will run approximately two hours later than usual. This is due to the excessive rain we have received over the past couple of days and with more expected tonight. Several of our roads where our buses travel are currently experiencing flooding and this could prove dangerous for any drivers attempting to travel before daylight. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our students and their parents, our bus drivers, faculty and staff is the highest priority in this situation.

Only varsity games will be played beginning with the girls' game. The boys' game will immediately follow.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release...Chireno ISD will hold classes tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17, beginning at 10:00 AM. This delay in start time is out of an abundance of caution for our bus drivers, commuters, parents, and students. Buses will run 2 hours later than usual and all CISD employees should be at school by 9:30 to prepare for the day.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release...Chireno ISD will be closed Tuesday, January 16, due to poor weather and road conditions within our district. Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing tonight or tomorrow, making driving too hazardous for our bus drivers, students, faculty, and staff to come to school. Any decision that is made for Wednesday will come tomorrow afternoon.

We will only play 3 games this evening as there will be no JV boys game. However, the first game (JV girls) will still begin at 4:00 pm followed by the varsity girls then the varsity boys. This will be our first match up against West Sabine as we continue through the first round of district play.

From Chireno ISD: For Immediate Press Release: Chireno ISD will not hold classes today due to a water line break overnight. We were informed that there was no specific timetable for it's repair, but that it could take up to several hours. We are planning to resume classes tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 12. Despite the cancellation of classes today, we are still moving forward with our plans for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new Middle School Building this afternoon at 3:30 pm. All faculty, staff, students, and the community are welcome to come walk through our new building and look at where our students will be holding classes beginning the week we come back from the Christmas Holidays. We will welcome all comers from 3:30-5:30 pm this afternoon.
