Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Marissa Smith Marissa plans on attending college to pursue art. Her fondest memory from high school was the senior trip to Galveston and the beach. If Marissa could pass on any piece of advice to future students it'd be slow down and enjoy school as it will go by fast. Her educator of impact was Mrs. L.

From the Chireno Sports Wire: Send-off for our STATE BOUND Softball team this Monday May, 30th. Doors open to the gym at 8:00 am with the pep rally to start at 8:15 am. We hope to see you there and GO CHIRENO OWLS!

Jose Recio-Cordova won a $1000 scholarship from the Association of Migrant Educators for East Texas! The artwork attached below is based on the theme "Hard Working Families Create Future Successes" - a graduating son being comforted by his hardworking mother. His artwork will be used on the cover of the AMET publications and catalogs. Please congratulate him when you see him!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Tomorrow’s Regional Final softball playoff game against Bloomburg at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall has been moved up to a 3:00 pm start time. This is due to potential bad weather that could move into the area later in the evening. We hope to see you there. Let’s go, Lady Owls!

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Brett Rushing Brett plans on attending college and pursuing a degree in dentistry. Brett's fondest memory from high school was getting to spend time with his classmates. His advice to fellow students would to not stress about grades as grades do not define you. Brett's most impactful educator was Mrs Linstrom-Fandry.

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Omar Ramirez Omar plans to serve our country by joining the Army National Guard. He will then go to trade school to become a lineman. Omar's fondest memory from high school was the senior trip to Galveston. His advice to fellow students would be to not do drugs. His most impactful educator was Mr. Bleile.

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Adrianna Patterson Adrianna plans to attend Tyler Junior College and major in sonography. Ms Patterson couldn't think of a single favorite memory! She stated that every memory made with friends is memorable. Adrianna's advice would be to not get burnt out, but keep pushing. These four years can determine the next 70 years of your life. Her most impactful educator was Mr. T.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: The opponent, game time, and location have all been set. Now, it's time to play. Our Lady Owls will take on the Lady Wildcats from Bloomburg in the Regional Finals this Saturday, May 21, on the campus of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall. Strike one is scheduled for 6:00 pm. This will be a one-game series with the winner advancing to the State Semi-finals to be played at McCombs Field on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin on Tuesday, May 31. These two schools have a competitive history over the past three years with the Lady Owls defeating Bloomburg in 2019 to advance to the state softball tournament. Last year, it was the Lady Wildcats who edged out our Lady Owls to advance to state in a thriller on the campus of Marshall High School. This game between these two softball powerhouses promises to be another great contest so we hope you will make plans to travel to Marshall, Texas, and support our ladies and coaches on Saturday evening. Let's go, Lady Owls! This past Saturday marked the end of an outstanding baseball season that saw our Mighty Owls capture a 1-A district championship. Kennard defeated Chireno in two games but not before the Owls made the Tigers earn their victory late in both games of the series. Congratulations to our young men and coaches on a building year that saw massive improvement from last year through hard work and dedication. The future is bright for Chireno High School baseball! Saturday also marked the end of a fantastic high school athletic career for senior Risten Cook, who competed at the state track meet in the discus. Risten finished in 8th place with a throw of 123' 11", an unofficial school record. Congratulations to this young man and his coaches, Darren Cook and Crystal Zienko. Only a select few athletes earn the opportunity to compete at that level in high school track and field. He certainly made our school and community proud.

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Tucker Meador Tucker plans on pursuing a career in business upon graduation. Tucker's fondest memory from high school was getting to play in the regional basketball tournament. His advice to following students would be to simply "make memories". Tucker's most impactful teacher was Mrs. Patton.

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Richard Lozano Richard plans on entering the workforce by getting his mechanics certification to work in the automotive industry. Richard's fondest memory was the senior trip. Richard's advice to following students would be to study, study, study, and study some more. His most impactful teacher was Mr. Bleile.

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Saylor Holloway Saylor plans on attending Stephen F. Austin State University to become a Registered Nurse. Saylor's fondest memory from high school was the senior trip to Galveston. Saylor's advice to following students would be to no procrastinate, if if you have the chance to get ahead on your work, get it done so you will have down-time. Saylor's most impactful teacher was Mrs Linstrom-Fandry.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: We have confirmed baseball playoff information! There was an alteration with the initial game of this best-of-three series with Kennard. Game 1 will now be played Thursday night at 7:00 pm. Game 2 is scheduled for noon on Saturday with Game 3 (if necessary) to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2. This series will be played at Nacogdoches High School. Softball playoff action is still set to begin Thursday evening at 6:00 pm in Pollock at Central High School. Game 2 of this series with Chester will get underway late Friday afternoon at 5:00 pm with a third game (if necessary) to be played immediately after the conclusion of Game 2. Meanwhile, senior Risten Cook is set to compete at the state track meet at UT Austin bright and early on Saturday morning. He is set to begin throwing the discus at 9:00 am. Good luck to all of our athletes representing Chireno High School this week!

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Brendon Hight Brendon plans on going to work for his father's company and then starting his path towards becoming self employed. Brendon's fondest memory from high school would be the tennis trip his junior year. His advice to following students would to have fun while in school, do not work yourself too hard, and enjoy your years as a kid. Brendon's most impactful teacher was Mrs Mancill.

Class of 2022 Senior Spotlight Kevin Hammack We are very excited to share that Kevin will be joining the Army National Guard after graduating from Chireno High School. Kevin's fondest memories from school would be his Phlebotomy class with Mrs Scarborough. Kevin's advice to future students would be to think very carefully before you decision on college courses while in high school. Kevin's most impactful educator was Mr. Beile.

Alaina said she will never forget all the memories, jokes, and accomplishments she made with her friends who became family. Alaina's advice would be always try your hardest in everything you do.
