From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Mighty Owls and Lady Owls continue their quests to remain undefeated in district play this evening at home against Chester. Varsity girls will tip things off at 5:00 with the boys playing immediately after. Both teams will finish off the week tomorrow evening at home in our annual Homecoming contests as we host Zavalla. The ladies will begin the night with a 6:00 pm tip off and the boys will follow. Per CISD protocol, fans will be temperature screened before entering the gym and masks are to be worn at all times.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Tonight's match up with Burkeville will only consist of the varsity boys' game, which will tip off at 5:30 pm. Our Lady Owls will have the night off as their contest was cancelled. Both teams are still slated to host Chester this Thursday with the ladies' game beginning at 5:00 pm. Friday will be our Homecoming games against Zavalla with the first game scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Although no basketball games are scheduled for tomorrow or Saturday, we have solidified our basketball schedule for next week which includes 3 home games. Please note that our games scheduled to be played at High Island on Tuesday, Jan. 26, have been cancelled. Next weeks' games are as follows: Monday, January 25 vs. Burkeville (5:30 pm) Thursday, January 28 vs. Chester (5:00 pm) Friday, January 29 vs. Zavalla (6:00 pm) * Homecoming* Information regarding the Homecoming ceremony protocols will be forthcoming in the days ahead. From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Both varsity basketball squads are back in action on the hardwood tonight as Leggett comes to town. The girls will tip off beginning at 6:00 pm with the boys' game to follow. Per Chireno ISD protocol, all fans entering the gym must be temperature screened and masks must be worn at all times. We are also planning to live stream these games in their entirety on the Chireno ISD facebook page. Scheduling update: Chireno boys and girls varsity teams will host Burkeville next Monday, Jan. 25, beginning at 5:30 pm. These games were originally scheduled for Jan. 8 but were postponed.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: The boys' games against Shelbyville to be played Friday, January 22, have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The girls' games with Grapeland slated for the following day have also been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Since these games were non-district match ups, Shelbyville, Grapeland, and Chireno have agreed it was in the best interest of safety for all players to forego these contests at this point in the basketball season.

Friendly Reminder: There is no school for students on Friday, January 15th or Monday, January 18th. The 15th is a CISD in-service day for faculty and staff and the district is closed on the 18th for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Both of these games will be live streamed on the Chireno ISD facebook page. Saturday's JV & Varsity girls' games are still slated to begin at 2:00 pm as the Teneha Lady Tigers come to town. Please remember that spectators must be temperature screened upon entry into the gym and must wear masks at all times.
