Earlier today, CISD was contacted by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office regarding a threat made to school districts on social media. This post did not specifically mention Chireno ISD. However, our district responded by sheltering in place while collaborating with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Department. The sheriff's office will continue this investigation. We have deemed our district safe and have returned to normal operations. Student safety is our primary concern and threats of this nature will always be taken seriously. CISD is grateful for the assistance of the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Department. Michael Skinner Chireno ISD Superintendent of Schools

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters in Alto ISD. Tomorrow we will show our support by wearing Yellowjacket school colors (yellow and black) instead of our planned homecoming themed day. Please join us in prayer and honor the Alto community by dressing in their school colors.

The ladies will tip things off at 6:00 pm with the boys to follow. Tomorrow, both squads will host Chester for Senior Night beginning at 6:00 pm. For Immediate Press Release: Chireno ISD is closely monitoring the weather system that will be reaching the Deep East Texas area on Thursday. CISD administration will be continuously assessing predicted weather conditions throughout the day and the possible effects the weather may have upon Friday's classes. Predicting the ramifications of winter weather in this part of East Texas is often challenging and this situation is proving to be no different. However, when it becomes clear as to what decision needs to be made regarding a weather plan for Friday, CISD will inform parents, students, faculty, and staff through the school's website, its Facebook page, as well as through automated texts and a voice call from the school.
