Our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters in Alto ISD. Tomorrow we will show our support by wearing Yellowjacket school colors (yellow and black) instead of our planned homecoming themed day. Please join us in prayer and honor the Alto community by dressing in their school colors.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It will be another busy week on campus for Chireno athletes. Our Lady Owls and Mighty Owls varsity basketball teams will travel to Goodrich this evening to make up games that were postponed this past Friday. The ladies will tip things off at 6:00 pm with the boys to follow. Tomorrow, both squads will host Chester for Senior Night beginning at 6:00 pm. This will be the final home game for our senior Lady Owls, Jessica Durrett, Saylor Holloway, and Alaina Goodwin before their playoff journey begins next week. Our senior boys will also be honored tomorrow evening (Risten Cook, Brendon Hight, Tucker Meador, Uziel Vargas, and Brett Rushing) as well. Their final home game, and last of the regular season, will be this Friday against Leggett. That game is slated for a 6:00 pm tip off. So, there will be no shortage of basketball for the week. This week also marks the beginning of our baseball season. Our Mighty Owls baseball team will host Corrigan-Camden this evening in a 6:00 pm scrimmage. Things are shaping up to be a promising season for our young men on the baseball diamond. We hope you will make plans to come and support our athletes this week!

For Immediate Press Release: Chireno ISD is closely monitoring the weather system that will be reaching the Deep East Texas area on Thursday. CISD administration will be continuously assessing predicted weather conditions throughout the day and the possible effects the weather may have upon Friday's classes. Predicting the ramifications of winter weather in this part of East Texas is often challenging and this situation is proving to be no different. However, when it becomes clear as to what decision needs to be made regarding a weather plan for Friday, CISD will inform parents, students, faculty, and staff through the school's website, its Facebook page, as well as through automated texts and a voice call from the school.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: There's a lot to be excited about this week within our athletic and UIL programs. Kailey Sowell is on her way to Austin to compete in State UIL Congress. Good luck, Kailey! Our cheer squad will travel to Ft. Worth for the State Spirit Competition taking place on Thursday of this week. Mrs. Stephanie Williams along with our cheerleaders have worked and prepared extremely hard for this week dating all the way back to the summer months. We have no doubt they will represent our school well. Good luck, ladies! Our basketball teams were victorious in Burkeville this past Friday and look to keep the momentum going tomorrow night as we host Goodrich. There will only be 2 games with the varsity Lady Owls tipping things off at 6:00 pm followed by the varsity boys. Both squads will travel to Chester on Friday where the ladies will begin the evening's contests at 6:00 pm. Also, our school will host the elementary and junior high the district UIL academic contests this Friday. Events will last all day. From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: We certainly hope you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and wish only the best for all supporters of Chireno student athletes as we bring in 2022. Perhaps there is no better way to escort the final week of 2021 out in style by cheering on our Lady Owls as they begin play in the Tenaha Holiday Hoops Tournament at 8:30 am Monday morning on the campus of Panola College against the Sabine Lady Cardinals. The tournament is slated to conclude on Wednesday. Our Mighty Owls will play their final non-district game against Wells on the home court this Friday.
