From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our Lady Owls on an outstanding season. Their playoff journey came to an end this evening in Timpson. Coach Turner and Coach Mayhugh will have our ladies ready for another successful run next year. Our Mighty Owls basketball team finished in third place in District 24-2A and will now face Beckville on Tuesday night in Teneha in their bi-district matchup. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: We have new information to share with the Chireno fan base since our athletes will be in two separate locations competing on Friday night. Our baseball team will still hold their final scrimmage in Timpson on Friday. However, the first pitch has been moved up a couple hours to 4:00 pm. This was originally scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm. Our Lady Owls will tip off their playoff game at Timpson High School against McLeod starting at 6:00 pm in the area round of post season action. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Our Mighty Owls basketball team will be playing Woden Friday evening at 6:00 pm. This game will be played at Zavalla High School. This is a tie breaker game to determine second place in district 24-2A. We will be well-represented across East Texas on Friday night. Good luck to all of our coaches and players!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our Lady Owls on their big win over the Beckville Ladycats last night in Gary! Coach Turner and Coach Mayhugh will now prepare them for the area round of action, which will take place this Friday night at Timpson High School. There, we will face McLeod at 6:00 pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Our baseball team is also slated to scrimmage the Timpson Bears on the road at 6:00 pm this Friday. Good luck to Coach Bleile and the Mighty Owls baseball team as they play one final scrimmage before the regular season begins. Don't forget that tonight our boys' JV and Varsity basketball squads will be in action in Woden beginning at 5:00 pm. This will be the final regular season game before our young men begin preparations for their playoff run. Information regarding playoff games will be forthcoming as the bi-district bracket becomes more clear. Good luck tonight, Mighty Owls!!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: The final home game for our Senior Mighty Owls and Senior Cheerleaders has finally come. We hope you can join us for Senor Night activities this evening beginning at approximately 6:10 pm. We'll only host one game tonight as our varsity boys will take on the Colmesneil Bulldogs. Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 pm. Our 24-2A district champion Lady Owls will play their first round playoff game at 6:00 pm Monday night at Gary High School against the Ladycats from Beckville. From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Tomorrow night is game night on the home court as our boys' and girls' basketball teams host Corrigan-Camden. The JV boys will tip things off at 5:00 pm. It is also Senior Night for our Lady Owl basketball players as they compete for the final time at home. We'll honor our five seniors (Callie Sanford, Hannah Smith, Morgan Anthony, Whitney Sargent, and Dacey Coleman) between the JV boys' and varsity girls' games. We hope you will make plans to come and support these ladies and all of our players and coaches as they continue second round district play.

All of our basketball teams will be back in action Friday afternoon when they travel south to take on West Sabine. The JV boys will begin the three-game night with a 4:30 tip.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's game day! Good luck to our Lady Owls and Mighty Owls as they travel to Broaddus this evening. The JV boys will start things off at 5:00 pm. Our varsity boys come into tonight's game looking to get off to a great start in the second round of district play having completed the first round with a 5-1 record and currently sit in 2nd place. Our 4th ranked Lady Owls are well into the second round of play and remain undefeated headed into tonight's contest with the Lady Bulldogs. Good luck, players and coaches!

Chireno ISD is currently experiencing an issue with in-bound and out-bound phone calls. Some have not experienced any problems while others have reported difficulties connecting. From the Chireno Owls Sports: Good luck to our basketball teams as they travel to Corrigan-Camden this evening. The JV boys will get things rolling with a 4:30 pm tip off. The Lady Owls will play immediately afterwards with the varsity boys finishing out the night in the third game. Congratulations to our cheerleading squad for an outstanding performance at the State Cheer Competition in Ft. Worth yesterday. Although they did not advance to the finals in 2A competition, these ladies put on a masterful show and represented Chireno ISD extremely well. Congrats to all of our cheerleaders, mascot, manager, and Mrs. Stephanie Williams! You made us proud!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our JV and Varsity boys along with our Lady Owls were victorious in their battles against tough squads from Broaddus this past Friday. Our ladies boast of a 3-0 record in district play while our boys are 1-0 in District 24-2A. All three teams will head east on Tuesday afternoon to play San Augustine with the JV boys beginning at 4:30 pm. We would like to extend an invitation to all who plan to attend to wear red as Chireno ISD will be showing our support for San Augustine ISD as they mourn the recent loss of one of their students, sophomore Kymron Davis.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Christmas Programs, Christmas Parties, Early School Release, and high school basketball...ah, yes...the sweet overtones of the holiday season! Tomorrow evening, our Lady Owls will host Colmesneil in their first game of district play. Tip off is scheduled for 5:00 pm. Our boys however, have had a slight change in plans for their games. Originally scheduled to begin play in Mt. Enterprise at 5:00 pm, the JV will now begin playing there at 2:30 pm with the varsity boys beginning immediately after. For Monday, December 19, the varsity boys are still scheduled to host Zavalla at 5:00 pm. For Tuesday, December 20, Our Lady Owls will travel to play Woden beginning at 6:00 pm. The boys' teams will travel to Wells. These games were originally scheduled to begin play at 5:00 but will now be played at 12:00 pm.

Parents, This is a friendly reminder about district events tomorrow, December 16. The elementary Christmas Program starring our PreK through 6th grade will begin promptly at 9:00 am in the gym. Following the program, parents will be able to sign their child out in the gym should they choose to take their child with them. Car riders will be dismissed at 11:50 am. Chireno ISD will early release at 12:00 pm for all remaining students. Shortly after, the buses will depart the campus to begin taking students home. Students will return to school to begin the spring semester bright and early on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. We here at CISD wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our Lady Owls for bringing home the championship trophy from the Gary Tournament this past weekend as they defeated the Woden Lady Eagles in yet another classic matchup! Our varsity boys went 3-1 in the same tournament and captured 5th place in a bracket that included several bigger schools. Their final game of the tournament saw them come from 20 points down in the 3rd quarter to defeat Redwater 54-51. Congrats to both teams as they played some great basketball this past weekend! Neither team will play tonight. The boys were originally scheduled to travel to Martinsville to take on the Pirates but the game has now been cancelled. The JV and Varsity Mighty Owls will go on the road this Friday to play Mt. Enterprise with the first game tipping off at 5:00 pm. Our Lady Owls will host Colmesneil this Friday in the first game of district play. That game is slated to begin at 5:00 pm.

For Immediate Press Release: Chireno ISD will be closed today due to a lack of water service to the school. Melrose Water is aware of the problem and will be working diligently to restore water to the school as quickly as possible. As of now, CISD is planning to return to school tomorrow at our regular time.
